Pork and Vegetable Stew

Second in the 7 day series, this pork recipe is enough for a full, nutritious and filling meal. Eat with thickly sliced, fresh bread. You’ll need:

450 gms boneless pork meat
1 medium sized onion
3 medium sizd carrots
350 gms lightly blanched green beans
225 gms macaroni
710 ml water
1 tsp salt

Pork Chops in Onion Sauce

This recipe heralds the beginning of 7 days of pork recipes. While I wouldn’t call pork the healthiest meat around due to its high fat content, nothing beats a well cooked pork chop. You’ll need:

4 pork chops
.5 tsp salt
large pinch pepper
 25 gm flour
2 tbsp oil
2 medium onions, thinly sliced
150ml beer
150ml chicken/mutton stock
3/4 tsp cornflour

Aloo Gobhi

A very common dish in most north Indian households, Aloo Gobhi [literally 'Potatoes and Cauliflower'] goes well on its own with rotis or with rice and dal.

3 Potatoes
1 onion
300gm Cauliflower
1 tsp Turmeric
1 tsp chilli powder
Salt to taste
Pinch Cumin seed
Oil for frying
Fresh coriander

Sauteed Garlic Vegetables

Simple recipe, it goes well with any main course. You’ll need:

Carrots
Beans
Any other veggie
Olive oil/Butter
Salt
Pepper
Garlic

Method:

Slice carrot
Cut beans [2 inch pieces]
Thinly slice garlic
Blanch vegetables for about 2 minutes. Drain, cool and dry.
Heat oil
Fry garlic.
When the garlic is about to turn brown, add the vegetables. Season with salt and pepper. Toss well.
Serve hot, accompanying a main course.

Blanquette of Chicken with Spicy Potato Croquettes

This is a good main course, though I think I could have presented and served it a bit better. My excuse is that it was a quick Saturday afternoon meal. Send me photos of how you did it. You’ll need:

Chicken [boneless]:

1/2kg chicken
Oil for frying
Flour
Salt + Pepper

Mustard Chicken Curry

This is a very simple curry that will only take you a few minutes to make, without looking for anything special. You’ll need:

Chicken
Black Mustard Seeds
Diced onion(s)
Diced tomato(es)
Kadi patta
Ginger paste
Garlic Paste
Chilli powder
Green chillies
Aamchur powder
Haldi powder
