Macaroni in Garlic and Coriander Sauce

By Sid • Oct 19th, 2007 • Category: Fusion Food, Italian Food, Non Vegetarian Food, Vegetarian Food

Found some great furniture today - teak, hand polished to a glossy black shade, yet showing the grain. Instantly fell in love with the stuff. Winced at the cost, gritted my teeth and ordered the lot. I’ll probably live to regret it, but the nice part is that the furniture will probably outlive me.
Came home [...]

Olive Oil with Bread

By Sid • Oct 14th, 2007 • Category: Fusion Food, Non Vegetarian Food, Posts, Snacks

We had Id lunch at Naheeds place… and what a lunch it was. I don’t think I have ever eaten better mutton curry (called Nihari, traditionally made with beef, made here with succulent cuts of tender lamb, the many spices tempered with yoghurt) or kebab (Pasanda kebab, with the flavor of woodsmoke still in it). [...]

Fish with Garlic and Spring Onions

By Sid • Oct 13th, 2007 • Category: British Food, French Food, Fusion Food, Non Vegetarian Food

Just saw Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag. Amazingly pathetic. Dialogue delivery sucked. Song sequences were too pseudo new age. Sets and ambience were make-believe. Songs themselves, including the mehbooba remix failed to inspire. The only people who *looked* good were Ajay Devgan, Jr Bacchan and Ms. Matondkar.
Big disappointment. Just goes to show, a mega [...]

Grilled Fish in Teriyaki Sauce

By Sid • Oct 12th, 2007 • Category: Asian Food, Fusion Food, Non Vegetarian Food, Oriental Food

I was talking on the phone with a friend one day. Lady friend. Cherie comes along and asks me who I’m speaking with. I tell her ‘my girlfriend’ and both of us (friend and I) share a laugh. Cherie nods an ok and walks off to continue doing whatever it was she was doing. Apparently. [...]

Banana and Onion Sabzi

By Sid • Oct 11th, 2007 • Category: Asian Food, Indian Food, Vegetarian Food

There’s this guy in my office - the office boy. He is a simple minded chap who insists, absolutely insists on opening doors every time I need to go out. When nature calls, he opens the door, patiently waits at the door, and then opens the door when he hears me coming. He also considers [...]

Teriyaki Chicken with Rice

By Sid • Oct 10th, 2007 • Category: Asian Food, Fusion Food, Non Vegetarian Food, Oriental Food

I live in this lovely little place called ‘Parsvnath Prestige’. One of the unique features of the residents is what I like to call a socio-economic thermostat. Sounds intriguing doesn’t it? Here’s how it works. You go to the children’s park or the gym or perhaps the swimming pool. Being a normal, social kind of [...]

World Bread Day is Coming!

By Sid • Oct 8th, 2007 • Category: Posts

World Bread Day falls on October 16th this year. The usual theme is to experiment with different types of bread, using different types of flours, doughs, seeds, stuffings and anything else you can think of. Lets see what I can come up with. I’ll be happy to receive your pictures and bread recipes too!

Poha

By Sid • Oct 6th, 2007 • Category: Indian Food, Snacks, Vegetarian Food

Poha is made from flattened rice and is good for a light snack or for breakfast. This dish can have many variants and is probably made a little differently in every home. Here’s how I make it.

You’ll need:

500gm Poha [flattened rice]
50gm Finely chopped fresh ginger
Handful Curry leaves
50gm Fried plain peanuts
100gm Chopped onions
A few Dry red [...]

Your Kitchen: Electronic Scales

By Sid • Oct 5th, 2007 • Category: Posts

I had a mechanical scale a while back. While it wasn’t really bad nor was anything wrong with it, it was difficult following precise recipes at times, or convering from Metric to Imperial or Imperial to American and so on.I’ve got these scales now. While measuring is slightly simple, what makes life a bit [...]
