Leftover Croquettes

By Sid • Jul 17th, 2008 • Category: Cooking For Kids, Fusion Food, Leftover Ideas, Snacks, Vegetarian Food

We had a dinner guest last evening and like all such occasions, there were a few left overs. Rather than leave the stuff in the fridge till it starts evolving into a different life form, I thought I’d use some of it for breakfast.
Boiled and mashed some potatoes, added a dash of mustard, paprika and [...]

Grilled Pita bread and Kebab Sandwich

By Sid • May 28th, 2008 • Category: Cooking For Kids, Fast Food, Fusion Food, Indian Food, Leftover Ideas, Middle Eastern Food, Non Vegetarian Food, Posts

This is a sandwich made of leftovers.
There are so many things we can do with leftovers, rather than let them sit in the fridge nurturing new varieties of mould. Take this lovely sandwich for instance. Leftover chicken kebabs were mashed and mixed with some sliced onions and stuffed between two slices of pita bread. The [...]

Hot Pineapple and Raisin Salad

By Sid • May 25th, 2008 • Category: Fusion Food, Posts, Salads, Vegetarian Food

Right, so all I’m writing about is Zainab’s food - I know.
I’ve tried cooking here and nearly always wind up with disastrous results. The problem is that when you’re not in your own kitchen, you almost never have the ‘right’ implements or spices and there are so many stuffed in various nooks and crannies of [...]

Noodles with Kidney Beans

By Sid • May 25th, 2008 • Category: Fusion Food, Oriental Food, Posts, Vegetarian Food

An expert at rustling up healthy and delicious food, this is another one of Zainab’s creations.
Onion, garlic and bell peppers lightly fried, tossed with boiled noodles and kidney beans, then seasoned with soy sauce and served hot.
Simple isn’t it? It tasted good too!

Coconut Prawn Curry

We picked up some fresh prawns from INA market and for some reason, I wanted to cook them in a coconut gravy - so much that I could actually taste and smell them the way I wanted it.We usually pick up fresh, unpeeled prawns from the market, then Cherie and I sit down to the [...]

Kebab Curry Noodles

By Sid • Apr 22nd, 2008 • Category: Asian Food, Dinner, Fusion Food, Lunch, Non Vegetarian Food, Oriental Food, Posts

I found these freshly made noodles in the market yesterday. All you need to cook them is a couple of minutes in salted, boiling water. So, I tried this recipe out, which resulted in a spicy combination of curry, noodles, kebabs and coconut.
First, boil your noodles, chop the kebabs and onions and squeeze out the [...]

Pepper Tuna with Tomatoes

By Sid • Apr 8th, 2008 • Category: Dinner, Fusion Food, Italian Food, Lunch, Non Vegetarian Food, Posts

Watching a travel program this evening motivated me to run into the kitchen and start doing *something*, not knowing exactly what I was going to end up with.
I started by cutting a few slices off a gourd and sauteing them in a little olive oil. Next came the tuna, which was steamed, shredded, seasoned with [...]

Review: Flluid Lounge, Mosaic Hotel, Sector 18, NOIDA

Flluid is in the Mosaic Hotel and is probably one of the most interesting lounge bars in the area. They have an adequate selection of food and quite an array of liquors. In fact, Flluid probably has the best stocked bar in NOIDA!
On entering you feel you’ve stepped into some location in the Arctic or [...]

Going by Toni’s recipe of a few days back, I thought of trying it at home. Problem was, I couldn’t find lamb or fresh rosemary. So, decided to follow procedure and change the ingredients. Here’s what finally hapenned:

Find a pan large enough to hold leg
Fill water, place on heat and add bay leaf, turmeric, salt, [...]

Curried Tuna with Potatoes

By Sid • Mar 20th, 2008 • Category: Dinner, Fusion Food, Indian Food, Lunch, Non Vegetarian Food, Posts

I found these lovely, smooth skinned and firm potatoes at the vegetable market yesterday and thought up this recipe just to use them! I also found some onion stalks with the buds on. If you haven’t seen these, they look like spring onion stalks, only they’re thicker, firmer, totally hollow and quite long, with a [...]
