Delhi Gymkhana

By Sid • Jul 23rd, 2008 • Category: Restaurants in Delhi, Reviews

Going to meet a friend this past Sunday, we were wondering just where to go. With so many options, choosing a place to eat out can get quite complex. So, armed with the Hindustan Times Eating Out Guide, we proceeded to work our way through Lebanese, Chinese, Japanese, Afghani and Indian among other choices available. [...]

Blanco - Khan Market, New Delhi

By Sid • Jul 11th, 2008 • Category: Restaurants in Delhi, Reviews

We visited Blanco a few days back for a drink and some food.
Quite a nice place. Either I haven’t been getting around as much as I used to, or restaurants are becoming more and more daring and experimenting with bold themes for their decor. I did like the way Blancos was set up. The staff [...]

Sidewok - Khan Market, New Delhi

By Sid • Jul 10th, 2008 • Category: Restaurants in Delhi, Reviews

Ashwin and I decided to meet up midweek and yesterday seemed as good a day as any. Since I had had enough of western style food, the general consensus was either an Indian or a Chinese restaurant. Roaming around Khan market, we found SideWok.
If I were to choose a single redeeming feature at SideWok, it [...]

Afghan, Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi

By Sid • May 13th, 2008 • Category: Restaurants in Delhi, Reviews

Ashwin (of MentorLink fame) took us out to an Afghani restaurant yesterday.A foodie himself, Ashwin likes finding restaurants and places to eat in little known places. “Before they start dishing out commercial crap”, are his words on the subject.
Anyhow, more of an eating house than a restaurant the way we all expect it, Afghan is [...]

By Sid • Apr 2nd, 2008 • Category: American Food, Breakfast, Deserts, Dinner, Fast Food, Lunch, Non Vegetarian Food, Posts, Restaurants in Delhi, Reviews, Salads, Snacks, Soups, Starters, Vegetarian Food

We met up here for lunch with brother and wives [Indu, Navnita]. Located in the India Habitat Centre on Lodhi road, The All American Diner is a good choice for the odd meal.
The very first point in the experience is the people at the gate of IHC. Very polite and helpful, it is a good [...]

Review: Udupi Cafe, ITO, Delhi

By Sid • Jan 13th, 2008 • Category: Asian Food, Indian Food, Posts, Restaurants in Delhi, Reviews, Vegetarian Food

I love little eating joints, especially so if they’re tucked away discreetly - like the Udupi Cafe. Saw the place while driving by, thought a nice hot dosa with some filter coffee would be nice that afternoon. The dosa was cold, the chutney corrupted and the sambar wasn’t sambar. I didn’t have the guts [...]

Review: The Host

By Sid • Oct 27th, 2007 • Category: Asian Food, Deserts, Dinner, Indian Food, Lunch, Non Vegetarian Food, Posts, Restaurants in Delhi, Reviews, Vegetarian Food

An extended coffee in Connought Place, New Delhi led to dinner today - Saturday night. All decent places seemed full, so we decided to try ‘The Host’. The experience started well, with a decadent, but pleasant enough ambiance and a polite waiter. It went well when we received our beer, which was just right [temperature].
Alas, [...]

Review: Never Ever Nirulas

By Sid • Jul 21st, 2007 • Category: American Food, Asian Food, Deserts, Dinner, Fast Food, Indian Food, Lunch, Non Vegetarian Food, Restaurants In NOIDA, Restaurants in Delhi, Reviews, Snacks, Starters, Vegetarian Food

I have always had a very deep personal attachment to Nirulas. This was where I tasted my first Banana Split and probably had my first taste of Indianised fast food. I say ‘had’, because over the last five years or so, the quality of the chain has been descending to never before depths in just [...]

TGI Fridays, Connought Place

By Sid • Jul 7th, 2007 • Category: American Food, Deserts, Dinner, Fast Food, Italian Food, Lunch, Non Vegetarian Food, Restaurants in Delhi, Reviews, Snacks, Starters, Vegetarian Food

We decided to have a boys lunch out, so the father, brother and me planned to meet up at TGI Fridays, Connought Place.
First off, the music wasn’t at loud as I thought it would be, which is good. The artifacts style of decor I learnt, it on its way out - sad.
Anyhow, lets come to [...]

Nirulas No More

By Sid • Jul 6th, 2007 • Category: American Food, Deserts, Dinner, Fast Food, Indian Food, Lunch, Non Vegetarian Food, Posts, Restaurants In NOIDA, Restaurants in Delhi, Reviews, Snacks, Starters, Vegetarian Food

We decided to pop over to Nirulas in Sector 2 NOIDA on Friday evening. We have gradually been getting more and more disillusioned with the quality of *every* thing at Nirulas lately, but for ‘old times sake’ always give it another chance every once in 6 months or so. While the quality of service [...]
