By Sid • Nov 30th, 2007 • Category: Desserts, Indian Food, Vegetarian Food
Rice with Sweetened Milk (Kheer) This thick, creamy and Indian was made by cooking rice in milk (100gm/2L), then adding and dried fruits and cooking till thick. Served hot or chilled. Remember not to add till the rice is cooked.

  1. The milk- kheer is appetizing. It sounds very simple and easy, but.. how much time will it take for the milk to turn into this consistency?.

  2. Hi,

It generally takes about 1 hour on a high flame. Some people do it on a very slow flame, where it takes 2 - 3 hours - as you like it.

For a brilliant white color, soak the almonds in hot water and remove the skin before putting into the milk mixture.
