Daily Savings
By Sid • May 26th, 2008 • Category: PostsHaving visited quite a few shops and supermarkets here, I find an overwhelming focus on savings. Most if not all stores and most products have deals, super savers and what have you. It’s quite a change from India, where the MRP (Maximum Retail Price) or RRP as it’s called here, is strictly adhered to. Competitive in-store pricing policies are just beginning to make their presence felt.
In fact, there’s a store chain called ‘Store 18’, which does quite the opposite. It buys damaged cans and cartons from wherever it can lay it’s hands on them and sells them at the full marked price! I was more than a little surprised when I saw a whole section of damaged stuff, of a single manufacturer’s single product, all of which were dented or bent.
I suppose it’s the rising cost of living that’s doing it. Many countries are probably seeing their economicmodels aren’t really working the way they used to. So much money is flowing out of the country to rising economies like China and India, that the pinch must be becoming quite apparent.
The focus on savings has grown to the extent that online Shop NBC coupon codes are quite popular and growing in the amount of savings they offer all the time. The other nice part is that these savings are on a wide range of products including apparel, food and electronics. If you’re looking to save some more perhaps visiting these chaps is in order. Pity they don’t provide savings for India yet.

There is no doubt that food prices are escalating weekly but if you are careful you can still eat quality produce but you must make plans so that everything is eaten and nothing is thrown away. There is a web-site called love food hate waste which is very useful if one is unsure about re-heating food (for example) os lacks ideas to make last nights leftovers into a nutritious second meal. I’ve not heard of Store 18, perhaps it is local to where you are currently staying? But it sounds like a bad shop to buy at!
That would be a nice idea I guess - commonly cooked food and what you can make out of its leftovers.
You probably haven’t heard of Store 18 since it is in India.
LOL! Sorry Sid, I read it as being in England!
