How to cook - Rice

By Sid • Mar 28th, 2008 • Category: Posts
Measure a quantity of rice Cooking rice can take many forms; this is the simplest. Measure out a quantity of rice.
Wash the rice till the water runs clear When rice is packaged, it is mixed with a fine powder, sometimes talc, to ensure it doesn’t stick together. We need to get it out of the rice. Therefore, wash the rice till the water runs clear. When done, soak for at least 30 minutes. This isn’t compulsory, but your rice cooks faster and nicer if you do.
Begin cooking the rice Put the rice into a utensil on the heat with double the water. This amount can differ from rice to rice. Long grained basmati rice typically requires double the water, as you can see in the picture.
The cooked rice Cook on a low heat, keeping an eye on it while it cooks. As you can see, it’s done now. The other way is to put lots of water and cook till the rice is done, and then drain the excess water.
