Our Third Day in France

We a woke to and I wore my summer clothes.  We had breakfast of eggs and on  toasted sunflower bread, it was lovely.  French eggs all seem to have very yellow and they are always .  We read a little in the but soon had to have a little

We eventually stirred ourselves to go for a drive and along the way shopped for .  We stopped at for a beer, for D and and for me.  There was an odd fountain outside the café, made of pottery hands, most odd.

For I chose a of Duck - the , and Basmati rice.  I scored the skin and the amount of fat that came out was astounding!  But the was good and, except for the rice which was like no Basmati that I have ever come across, more like or rice, the meal was a success, helped by the that D opened, a lovely - Grangeotte-Freylon.

After we watched ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire’ in French.  It takes us a while to translate the questions but it is rather fun.  And we did get a lot of the answers right.

  1. Basmati rice with a Jasmine flavor?. That must have been wonderful! Even though basmati is grown in India I have never tasted Basmati that has a Jasmine flavor. You are right that must have had its origins in Thailand or some other exotic place far east.

  2. Vinny, it confused our taste buds! I should have looked to see if the rice was grown in India, but I neglected to do so. It is my preferred rice to use when at home, so I know how I like it cooked, but that one was - odd…
