Suralai Bar - Bangkok, Thailand
By Sid • Aug 22nd, 2008 • Category: Restaurants - International, ReviewsHere’s another gem by Debasish Roy, who by the way is a keen footballer. He even has his own site on the topic - www.magicoffootball.com - so if you’re a football fanatic, perhaps you want to go register and check out what the site has to offer.
Located in the Royal Orchid Sheraton in Bangkok, the Suralai Bar is a multi cuisine restaurant. Debasish started with Kiwi and peanuts dipped in turkey jelly (sounds interesting!), went on to ‘Steak done to a turn’ in his words and finished off with Strawberrys and apple strudel. He also indulged in screwdrivers during the course of the meal.
Question for you Debasish: When will you tell us about the Thai food you ate in Thailand?
In Debasish’s words:
Very relaxing atmosphere and is plumb in the middle of the lobby on a raised carpeted platform. This bar somehow does not exist as this is a convenient place to keep your toes and ankles dry in case the lobby of this magnificient hotel suddenly gets flooded. I don’t think this is possible but still the bar looks like it had been designed keeping this possibility in mind. The food is soooo good and the waiter hovers around to see if you are enjoying the food with your drinks and if you show the slightest face then the food is immediately replaced or complemented with some nice dishes.
At INR 4000 for a meal for two, the place isn’t exactly cheap, but going by his words, Debasish obviously felt it was well worth the experience!
