Blanco - Khan Market, New Delhi

By Sid • Jul 11th, 2008 • Category: Restaurants in Delhi, Reviews

We visited Blanco a few days back for a drink and some food.
Quite a nice place. Either I haven’t been getting around as much as I used to, or restaurants are becoming more and more daring and experimenting with bold themes for their decor. I did like the way Blancos was set up. The staff [...]

Sidewok - Khan Market, New Delhi

By Sid • Jul 10th, 2008 • Category: Restaurants in Delhi, Reviews

Ashwin and I decided to meet up midweek and yesterday seemed as good a day as any. Since I had had enough of western style food, the general consensus was either an Indian or a Chinese restaurant. Roaming around Khan market, we found SideWok.
If I were to choose a single redeeming feature at SideWok, it [...]

To Yo or Not to Yo

By Sid • Jun 13th, 2008 • Category: Posts

I just learnt that Nestle’s instant noodles product Maggi Cuppa Mania is off the market until further notice. I think the product sucked (not as much as Pot Noodles in the UK though, which sucks big time) but thats not the reason it’s been taken off the shelves.
Apparently, the owners of Yo! China felt that [...]

Afghan, Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi

By Sid • May 13th, 2008 • Category: Restaurants in Delhi, Reviews

Ashwin (of MentorLink fame) took us out to an Afghani restaurant yesterday.A foodie himself, Ashwin likes finding restaurants and places to eat in little known places. “Before they start dishing out commercial crap”, are his words on the subject.
Anyhow, more of an eating house than a restaurant the way we all expect it, Afghan is [...]

How my Sister in Law became ‘Sweetheart’ to a hundred

By Sid • May 9th, 2008 • Category: Posts

Call it anything you want, but this is one tale that I just couldn’t resist telling.
My brother, Sameer, an Ex-Army officer is married to his long time girl friend, Navnita. Being rather straitlaced and methodical about things like keeping in touch, sending birthday cards and all of that, he has an address book that runs [...]

Review: Papa Johns, Sector 18, NOIDA

By Sid • Jan 18th, 2008 • Category: American Food, Fast Food, Italian Food, Non Vegetarian Food, Posts, Restaurants In NOIDA, Reviews, Snacks, Starters, Vegetarian Food

We’ve ordered numerous times from Papa Johns, Sector 18, NOIDA and eaten in the dine in area a few times too. There really isn’t anything to distinguish this place from the other pizza joints in the area.Their staff is just as bumbling, the pizza tastes just as ordinary and the add-ons quite run of the [...]

Review: The Great Kabab Factory, Sector 18, NOIDA

By Sid • Jan 18th, 2008 • Category: Asian Food, Indian Food, Non Vegetarian Food, Posts, Restaurants In NOIDA, Reviews

This is an update to my previous posts on the subject. I’m quite interested in watching the service quality of restaurants - particularly the ones that are doing well. What apparently happens is that initial quality levels [service and food] are quite high - these degrade over time as customer flock to the place - [...]

Review: Udupi Cafe, ITO, Delhi

By Sid • Jan 13th, 2008 • Category: Asian Food, Indian Food, Posts, Restaurants in Delhi, Reviews, Vegetarian Food

I love little eating joints, especially so if they’re tucked away discreetly - like the Udupi Cafe. Saw the place while driving by, thought a nice hot dosa with some filter coffee would be nice that afternoon. The dosa was cold, the chutney corrupted and the sambar wasn’t sambar. I didn’t have the guts [...]

Review: The Host

By Sid • Oct 27th, 2007 • Category: Asian Food, Desserts, Indian Food, Non Vegetarian Food, Posts, Restaurants in Delhi, Reviews, Vegetarian Food

An extended coffee in Connought Place, New Delhi led to dinner today - Saturday night. All decent places seemed full, so we decided to try ‘The Host’. The experience started well, with a decadent, but pleasant enough ambiance and a polite waiter. It went well when we received our beer, which was just right [temperature].
Alas, [...]

Bell Peppers with Cottage Cheese

By Sid • Oct 24th, 2007 • Category: Asian Food, Indian Food, Vegetarian Food

Browsing the net a couple of days back, I came across this programmer freelancers site, where one can hire a programmer to work for you on a project or hourly basis. One entry caught my eye. It was a gent from Delhi, who claimed to have an engineering degree along with a masters degree in [...]
